Families for Early Success Program (F4ES) offers peer based education, skill development and support around navigating the early childhood and k-12 education system, advocacy and early math, reading, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) for children 0-5.

We train parents whose children attend subsidized childcare programs like Early Head Start, Head Start, OUSD Child Development Centers and Family Day Cares.  F4ES works with parents and caretakers to develop the skill sets necessary to ensure early childhood success as parents ready their children for their first years of school.

F4ES fosters informal care providers’ confidence to provide quality early support for their children, encourages their leadership development as early childhood educators and supports with closing the achievement gap by offering education on early math, reading and STEM, as well as exposing them to resources in the community to monitor child development.

Parents at Bayside Martin Luther King, Jr. in Marin City to attended Parent Cafe sessions facilitated by PLAN.

The purpose of each of these two-hour sessions for parents was to explore one of the “Five Protective Factors.”  By exploring these five topics families are fortified, and parents deepen their relationship with other parents.  Parents were very interested and shared incredible stories of real feelings and real issues they face balancing the struggles and triumphs of being a parent. On May 22nd thirteen parent participants graduated from this training series.  PLAN hopes to train and guide them to join their School Site Councils to help organize to improve their school so that their children have the academic success all children deserve.
