Quality Public Education is a fundamental right of every person and essential to a democratic society.

Decades of research shows that when families are welcomed and prepared to be partners in their children’s learning in meaningful ways, students succeed and schools improve.

PLAN has provided thousands of Bay Area parents with leadership trainings that leverage their strengths, value their diversity, and connect across languages and learning styles. PLAN’s training programs build communities of emerging leaders who work in partnership with schools to create a culture of meaningful engagement for all families.

Graduates go on to participate in governance, school improvement efforts and campaigns for educational equity at the district and state levels. In 2014, eight graduates were elected to School Site Councils, which decide how Local Control funds are spent, and two were elected to the LCAP Parent Advisory Committee. Other graduates organized at their school sites to address issues such as parent-teacher communication, traffic safety and language access.
